Part 2 of our 5 part series based on Aristotle’s Rhetorical Appeals…

Transcript

It is time for your Fearless Monday Minute. We are in the midst of our five part series on how to build trust with your audience. And as a source of that we’re looking at Aristotle (he/him pronouns), and the Rhetorical Appeals that he writes about as our guide. So last time, we talked about Ethos, and the appeal to experience, and for today’s Monday Minute, we’re going to look at Logos and the appeal to logic. So basically, what you’re talking about has to make logical sense to the listener. If it doesn’t make logical sense to the listener, then they’re not going to trust you. So 2 + 2 = 4, it doesn’t equal 37. People would be confused. And I think a useful frame to think about is the classic five paragraph essay: introduction. thesis statement here, three points to prove it, and here’s a conclusion, I’m gonna land the plane. See you next time.
