Monday Minute: Are You a Me Speaker or We Speaker?

“A wise man speaks because he has something to say, a fool speaks because he has to say something.” -Plato

We have all probably experienced that cringe-worthy moment . . . you’re sitting in the audience and you think to yourself, “Wow – this speaker really only cares about themselves.”

As we set out to craft meaningful content for our audience, we often source and/or mine our personal experience to build connection and to also clarify a point that we’re making.

In this Monday Minute, I share one helpful frame, as we comb through the stories we share, to gauge if the story is just “ABOUT ME”, or if the story is of “HIGHEST SERVICE TO MY AUDIENCE.”

Have a fabulous and fearless week!

Fearlessly yours,

Eduardo

It is time for your Fearless Monday Minute. Are you a ME speaker or a WE speaker? You know, you’re dealing with a ME speaker when you’re sitting in the audience and you’re cringing and you’re like, oh my gosh, what is this person going to stop speaking? It’s just all about them. You know, you’re dealing with a WE speaker, however, when you’re sitting on the edge of your seat, and you’re just like, wow, I’m getting so much out of this. I’m learning so much. There’s just so much generosity, of insight of story of value. And I think that odds are we would rather be on the WE side than the ME side. And one sure way that you know that you’re erring on the WE side is to make sure that your storytelling always has a point. So even if you are sharing personal stories, and you’re speaking about yourself, you’re not speaking about yourself to serve yourself, but you’re speaking through yourself allowing the stories that you tell even though they are personal, to be of service and a value like a parable to your audience.
